Despite having planned to do for so long, I’ve never gotten around to eating at Todd English Food Hall in SM Aura. Part of that has to do with Fort Bonifacio being out of the way of my usual routes; also because when I’m in the area, I’m more preoccupied with the purpose I went there for in the first place (usually to buy something in Fully Booked or attend an event in High Street). So I’m usually limited to two or three Fort Bonifacio  restaurants in, well… *checks past entries*… a year.

When Pound started announcing that it will open a second branch in SM Megamall earlier this year, I saw that as an opportunity, and penciled a schedule to dine there with a friend. And here we are one weekend afternoon while waiting for our movie screening to start.

Pound is the spin-off of the Todd English Food Hall’s burger station, and this branch has two seating areas – one which is similar to the Prohibition era-inspired BGC branch, and the other is a more sanitized-looking dining area outside the main restaurant. Each of the two spaces has its own merits and drawbacks. The main dining room has a more sophisticated ambiance, and you get to see the chefs working in the kitchen, though the area is cramped with tables close to each other. The outside dining area is more spacious and bright, so the vibe is cheerier, but you’re in the middle of the mall lobby, so people passing by see you eating. But darn with the ambiance. We’re here to eat burgers.

My friend orders a safe one – the T.E. Burger, which is basically a hamburger. I on the other hand, avail of the $1 Dollar promo, in which items on a special menu are all available for the day’s equivalent in Philippine peso of the dollar. I order three of those – a small serving of # Truffle Fries, a solo serving of Pound Pomodoro, and a piece of T.E. Slider.

# Truffle Fries (regular price: PHP 160)
Pound Pomodoro (regular price: PHP 250)
T.E. Slider (regular price: PHP 155 / 2 pcs)
T.E. Burger (PHP 195)

We’re satisfied with our meals, I especially, since I spent only more or less PHP 150 for the three menu items. I do plan to splurge a little more on the other burgers the next time I’m here.

  1. Hehe, thanks for this one! A third branch will be opening in Eastwood Mall soon (replacing Potts Point Cafe), and as they say – knowing is half the battle. 😀
